Recruit for Attitude

Reduce costs in volume recruitment
Volume recruitment is expensive.
Sifting through stacks of CVs and application forms is an arduous, unreliable task and not to mention time consuming.
A range of pre-employment screening tools will help improve the recruitment process for your business, improve staff quality and reduce costs. Personality psychometrics have been proven to be up to 5 times more powerful than traditional selection techniques in the prediction of performance.
One size does not fit all

Before creating the Psychometrics at Work Research Group, Dr Mark Batey developed the first psychometric filter tool, used by Beaverbrooks the Jewellers in 2008. The tool has been in daily use as part of their on-line candidate management system since completion.
The Beaverbrook’s filter is designed specifically for ‘high-end retail sales’ staff. The attitude, professionalism and interpersonal skills required from a sales assistant selling jewellery, being a part of some of life’s special occasions, requires quite a different personality to a contact centre sales employee or customer service job.
The initial work on all projects is to identify the specific job requirements and create the personality measures required.
Since developing the tool for Beaverbrook’s, the team has worked and is working on a number of filters for specific roles. Here are a few along with some of the important behavioural considerations required for the specific role:
High-end retail – sensitive communications, empathising with the customer and providing a high degree of service customisation
General retail - diligence, hard work and integrity
Fast food retail – energy, enthusiasm and team work
Inbound contact centre – sensitive communications, high standards and ease with routine
Outbound contact centre - influencing, persuasion and optimism
Security staff - work ethic and diligence
Cleaning staff - honesty, integrity and conscientiousness
Event staff - rule following, initiative and conflict resolution
Delivery drivers - rule following, forward-planning, honesty and passivity
PSV drivers – impulse-control, diligence and comfort working alone
As many specific roles fit within a similar pay/skill range, there is a good overlap on a wide range of measures. However, the tailoring process reduces the number of questions each candidate is required to answer and allows for a better fit to your business culture.
